SteamFPS independent guidance
How to compare SteamOS devices before buying
A compatibility badge is a useful starting point, but it does not replace device-specific performance guidance. Steam Machine, Steam Deck and Steam Frame serve different play styles, so a hardware decision should begin with the games that matter most and the settings trade-offs a player is willing to make.
Portable sessions, a fixed living-room setup and mixed-reality play can put different priorities on the same game. Low, Medium and High guidance is most useful when it makes those choices clear, rather than presenting a single yes-or-no answer.
For a structured starting point, SteamFPS explains which Valve device to buy. It also publishes its SteamOS performance methodology, including the distinction between estimated, community-reported and measured figures.
Independent, device-specific guidance helps a buyer compare a library and play style before choosing SteamOS hardware.
